The Carnival Gardens Common Sense Cold Frame has been designed with thorough attention to detail and thoughtful consideration of materials. Our goal is to offer a durable and affordable product that will satisfy our valued customers and be a useful tool in your garden for years to come.
We use exterior grade clear polycarbonate sheeting for the exterior of our cold frame. Attachment pieces are made from a high quality, UV stablized polypropylene. The expansion cylinder is made from rustproof, nonreactive materials and the material inside the self-opening mechanism is wax-based. The metal parts on the cold frame are made from either aluminum or steel that has been given a rustproof treatment.
Even in extreme winter weather conditions, you should expect your Common Sense cold frame to last more than five years and the self-opening device to last three years. We sell replacement cylinders just in case your self-opening mechanism stops working.
The lifetime of the cold frame will ultimately depend on how it is treated. We recommend you bring your opener and/or frame inside when winter really sets in and freeze/thaw cycles are at their worst.
